Doctors in Training

The AMA(SA) Doctors in Training (DiT) Committee meets regularly to discuss a range of topics that influence the lives and careers of young doctors. For example, working hours, unpaid overtime, meal breaks, workplace facilities, access to study leave, accommodation and remuneration are some of the concerns addressed by the committee.

The DiT Committee plays an important role in the AMA(SA) in terms of policy development and advocacy on behalf of junior doctors, and the committee's advocacy directly contributed to the establishment of the SA Medical Careers Expo.

The AMA(SA) works with both medical school societies and the major training hospital RMO Societies to promote professional and social activities for young doctors. The federal AMA's Council of Doctors in Training is also a strong advocate for doctors in training: to find out more about national DiT news, check out the E-dit newsletter.
