There
are a number of standing committees working to benefit the
profession under the aegis of the AMA(SA). To join a committee
please contact us on (08) 8361 0101 or email
us.
The AMA(SA),
as well as the federal AMA, has a representative structure
in which various craft groups are represented on our council
by a councillor elected to represent that group. To find

Doctors in Training Committee
The Doctors in Training
(DiT) Committee looks after the interests of emerging medical
professionals. The committee understands the issues that
are particularly relevant to this section of the profession
and works hard to protect its interests. Doctors in training
face particular challenges around medical indemnity, safe
working hours, access to annual leave and other pressures
resulting from workforce shortages. The DiT Committee gives
doctors in training the opportunity to raise concerns or
ideas with peers and, with the support of the AMA(SA) behind
them, work to resolve or implement them.
Council of General Practice
The AMA(SA) Council of General
Practice (CGP) gives general practitioners the opportunity
to put their views forward and also offers a good way to
keep abreast of the myriad of changes that impact upon the
demanding role general practitioners play. The AMA(SA)CGP
holds regular meetings covering the range of issues that
affect general practitioners at both a state and federal
level. It also benefits from strong links to the federal
AMA Council of General Practice which lobbies hard for equitable
policies and is a valuable resource for the state council.
The AMA(SA)CGP forms a key link between general practitioners
and the state and federal AMA. If you want to be a part
of the flow of information and ideas to protect and benefit
your profession, why not join this council and make a difference?
Working
parties
As specific issues arise,
the AMA(SA) Council acts quickly to tackle them. Sometimes
the Council sees a need that hasn’t been addressed
before. At such times the Council may form a working party
so that AMA(SA) can respond quickly and harness the passion
and expertise of members who are ready to take on a challenge.
