AMA membership is an annual membership which falls due at the end of each calendar year. A range of membership fees has been put in place for AMA membership, in view of doctors' differing situations. Special rates are available for part-time practitioners, doctors in training, joint members (ie spouses who are both AMA members), retired members and members on maternity leave. There is also a special rate for members who are overseas.

Members have the option to pay their fees annually or monthly, by automatic deduction. Special consideration can also be granted for members who are experiencing financial difficulties.
