Dr Jon Sporne

AMA(SA) Vice President
Dr Jon Sporne is a
family doctor and works as an after-hours locum at the South
Coast District Hospital, Victor Harbor. He was educated
at Brighton High School and the University of Adelaide and
trained at the Royal Adelaide and Modbury hospitals. He
is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practice.
He worked as a flying doctor in Port Hedland in the 1980s.
Dr Sporne is chair of the
AMA(SA) Council of General Practice and is an executive
member of the federal AMA Council of General Practice. He
is also a state representative on AMA Federal Council. His
professional interests include aviation medicine, gerontology,
emergency medicine and resuscitation, medical ethics and
professionalism.
Jon spends as much time
as possible at his farm on the Fleurieu Peninsula and produces
olive oil under the 'Serendipity' label.
