Dr Rick Fielke
MB BS
Representative for Doctors
in Training
After growing up and completing
his secondary education in Adelaide Rick took a year off
and travelled through Europe before commencing medicine
at Adelaide University. While undertaking his medical studies
he spent a significant part of his clinical training in
country South Australia with the Spencer Gulf Rural Health
School. He is currently undertaking his internship at the
Royal Adelaide Hospital.
Through his clinical exposure
while studying medicine Rick has developed interests in
both surgery and general practice, in particular the challenges
of rural practice. He is attracted to the balance of the
challenges found in medicine and the variability in practice,
which allows medical practitioners to pursue their specific
interests while contributing to the community.
Some of the issues that particularly concern him are those
around the provision of vocational training places of continued
high quality and adequate clinical teaching to students
and young doctors, to ensure medical standards are maintained
and young graduates have continued career choice.
Outside of medicine Rick maintains a strong interest and
passion for wine, his tropical fish, and Football. Whenever
he gets the chance he disappears to the bush to pursue his
love for bushwalking.
