The
AMA(SA) has a number of dedicated committees and craft groups
to represent members' interests and concerns, providing
advocacy at both the local, state and federal levels of
Government. Contact
us to learn more about getting involved in one of the following
groups.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee
meets regularly to oversee and manage the business of the
AMA(SA) Council with a focus on maintaining and improving
efficient business standards, matching the dynamism of the
profession the committee serves. Membership
of the Executive includes the President, Vice President,
Honorary Medical Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, Federal
Councillors, and a representative of the AMA(SA) Council
of General Practice (AMA(SA)CGP).
Council of General Practice
The AMA(SA) Council of
General Practice (CGP) meets regularly to discuss issues
affecting GPs at state and federal levels. It benefits from
strong links to the federal AMA, which actively lobbies
for equitable policies. The AMA(SA) encourages general practitioner
members to make full use of their membership by joining
the AMA(SA)CGP.
Doctors in Training Committee
The Doctors-in-Training
(DiT) Committee focuses on highlighting and investigating
the interests of emerging medical professionals. Comprised
of doctors in training, medical students and senior doctors,
the Committee understands and identifies the key issues
relevant to this particular segment and works hard to protect
their interests.
Road Safety Committee
The AMA(SA) Road Safety
Committee is a public health initiative of the AMA(SA),
and works to reduce road trauma. The Committee investigates
and encourages initiatives that can reduce injuries and
fatalities due to road crashes, liaises with other key organisations
to develop strategies to improve road safety, and lobbies
for a legislative framework which supports good medical
care of patients who drive. Fitness to drive assessment,
licensing requirements and rehabilitation are aspects of
road safety the AMA(SA) is well-positioned to influence
and this committee does so!
